Cate Blanchett continues the promotional trail for new film Truth wearing stunning floral chiffon and lace dress

Cate Blanchett has no doubt been feeling the fashion pressure as she continues on the promotional tour for her latest film Truth.

But the 46-year-old star managed to pull it out the bag again on Thursday when she was seen leaving a meeting in Soho in New York.

The actress wore a gorgeous chiffon and lace dress, which featured a bold floral pattern.

With a print in bold shades of green, blue and red, it was offset by a black background and looked stunning against her pale skin.

The frock also featured accents of lace, and fell to her ankles with a flirty frill kick at the bottom.

Always one to push the fashion boundaries, Cate wore a pair of pink 70's style aviators which featured pale blue lenses.

She had her blonde locks coiffed in delicate waves.

The actress finished the look with a pair of black tasseled flats.

Cate has used some of her promotional duties to speak out about her dislike of socal media and the selfie culture that is now such a huge part of interaction for people today.

If you though florals were just for the warmer weather, think again. Whilst spring/ summer 2015 was all about ditsy flower prints in pastel hues, this season is the turn of moody blooms in jewel tones to take centre stage- cue Erdem, Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino whose signature autumn/ winter collections nearly always feature this recurrent theme.

We’re loving Cate’s maxi dress here which features a flora fauna motif on a black background criss-crossed with mesh panelling and a gathered collar for a romantic, if not somewhat Victoriana look.

Part of Valentino’s resort 2016 collection, this dress is not yet available to buy, but click right to shop the current collection at Net-a-Porter.

We’ll be wearing ours layered under chunky knits and a biker jacket and teamed with ankle boots for the perfect autumnal look!

The Oscar winner made the revelation while discussing her thoughts about society's ‘pathetic’ need to receive validation from other people’s reactions to their pictures.

Speaking to Yahoo, she was asked why she believed women going make-up free for roles still manages to garner so much discussion and praise.

Cate responded, ‘I think it’s because people constantly are taking pictures of ourselves to send them to people to see if they like me, “do they like me?”’

She added: ‘It’s pathetic, the whole thing about people worrying about what other people are going to think.’

When asked if she felt the same about the ‘selfie culture’, the Blue Jasmine star said she 'just can’t handle it.'

In Truth, she stars in as journalist Mary Mapes,

It tells the true story of the CBS producer, and 60 minutes team who alongside Dan Rather, (played by Robert) were at the centre of a controversy over a story about George W Bush's national guard service, which took place during the Vietnam war.

The film is based on the memoir by Mary - Truth and Duty: The Press, the President, and the Privilege of Power.
